The Scout Den that was an icon to the VI Boy Scouts for more than thirty years has been destroyed in a fire.
It burned down last night, July 28 at approximately 9.35pm or 2135 hours.
I saw the building was destroyed from top down, from the roof. It was a devastating blow for the VI Boy Scouts as they plan to have the centennial celebration in 2009. As you guys might remember there are two Boy Scout troops, 1st KL and 2nd KL.

'Firefighters did their best!'
The cause of the fire has not yet been identified. According to one of the people there it could be from the bamboo trees as a day earlier the gardener was burning some leafs near them. This is pure speculation as the fire started from the roof. We will keep you updated on the reason of the blaze.
Latest update that I have as at August 1, 2007. The reason behind the blaze could be because of short circuit.
Joey did a follow-up when he was at VIOBA yesterday. Photo of post-blaze of the SD will be forwarded to us by our bro soon. We thank Joey for the information.
To those of who do not know how short circuit happened (like me) or thought Einstein
was a rock star (due to his ridiculous hair!) please click on any for the line below. Time to brush-up on the Physics subject YO!

Two Scania fire trucks and at least 3 rapid Honda motorcycles team from Jalan Hang Tuah rushed to the SD. But, when they reached the place it was already a huge ball of fire. But, luckily no one was hurt.
The fire was first notice by one of the school workers as he and his family were coming back from the masjid nearby. He quickly dialed 994.
Estimated loss is not available at this moment.

History from http://www.viweb.freehosting.net/sct-abode.htm
So in 1976, the V.I. Scouts finally had a permanent structure in which to make their home. Initially, an elaborate multi-part complex was planned to be built, costing $15,000.00 but the funds raised were insufficient to cover that cost. So eventually, a modified double-storey hexagonal mainly timber building was erected from the funds raised from previous years. Costing $10,943.00, the construction of the building had begun in 1975.
